Dr. John Charles Cooksey received his M.D. from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, in 1966. Immediately following his internship at the Confederate Memorial Medical Center in Shreveport, LA, Dr. Cooksey served as a Flight Surgeon for the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1969.  After completing his military service, he began studying ophthalmology. Following a three-year residency program, he established his private practice in Monroe, LA in October of 1972. Knowing that continuing education is critical in order to keep up with the rapidly changing tide of medical knowledge, Dr. Cooksey has completed 67 medical classes and seminars within the last 22 years, as well as earning an Executive MBA in 1994 from the University of Texas.

In 1977, Dr. Cooksey expanded his practice to include the Blepharoplasty procedure. This “eye-opening” surgery, performed for both aesthetic and health reasons, gave him the opportunity to help many individuals face the world with their natural vitality and energy written on their faces for all to see. Many people suffering from sagging lids or bags under the eyes, seem tired or sad even when this does not accurately reflect what they are truly feeling. Excited by the boost of self-confidence that this gave many of his patients, Dr. Cooksey quickly saw the value presented in the application of laser technology for cosmetic purposes and was the first to introduce the Sciton Erbium Profile Laser to Northeast Louisiana in 2003. Since then, Dr. Cooksey and the remarkable staff at the Cooksey Vision and Cosmetic Center have helped hundreds of people temper and even erase some of the signs that time, heredity, sun damage and other factors have left upon their faces and bodies, leaving them looking younger, more energetic, and feeling better about themselves.

The cosmetic staff at the Cooksey Vision and Cosmetic Center is composed of Dr John Cooksey, M.D., F.A.C.S. as well as his indispensable cosmetic nursing staff team: Barbara Bryan, Dewanna Lofton, and Amy Rawls.
