What areas can be treated?
Most skin areas can be treated with Laser Skin Resurfacing. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest and hands.
Will the procedure be painful?
Discomfort varies from individual to individual with Laser Skin Resurfacing. Several anesthesia options are available, and Dr. Cooksey will discuss options to ensure that any discomfort is properly managed. Following treatment, redness and some swelling are common.
How long will it take to heal?
Healing time will depend greatly on each person’s metabolism and the depth of the treatment, but the outer layer of skin will be replaced within a few days. Red or pink skin is also common, and may last for several weeks following the treatment, but will fade with time. Make-up can be used after approximately one week of healing. New skin is extremely sensitive to ultra-violet light and must be protected until the area is fully healed, so covering the skin, using sunscreen or wearing a hat is a critical part of the healing process.
What are the risks of the procedure?
As with any procedure, there is some risk of infection; however, following the aftercare procedures prescribed by Dr. Cooksey will reduce risks and ensure shortest healing time.
