How is the procedure done?
Dr Cooksey introduced the powerful and precise Sciton Erbium Profile Laser to North Louisiana. This safe, computer-controlled laser offers many advantages compared to older technology. The device automatically scans the area of skin to be treated, and then emits a beam of light and energy that penetrates the surface of the skin to a precisely determined depth. The depth of the peel and size of the area are completely tailored to the needs of each individual, allowing for maximum benefit and minimal recovery time.
Will the procedure be painful?
The Sciton Erbium Profile Laser creates less heat than older lasers, making it much less painful. There is little-to-no discomfort during the treatment, and symptoms afterward resemble mild sunburn. Healing takes 3-4 days with slight redness and minor sloughing occurring on the second day. Redness begins fading on the third day and is easily covered by make-up on the fourth day. This rapid recovery period enables individuals to undergo the procedure on Thursday or Friday, and return to work as normal the following Monday, earning it the nickname “The Weekend Treatment”.
How many times is the procedure repeated?
Typically, the procedure is repeated 2-4 times, spaced 6-8 weeks apart, although individual differences in skin condition and response to treatment affect this schedule. Many peels may be done to achieve the desired result.
